Waterless AI Factory | ZutaCore

Written by Alison Deane | Dec 3, 2024 9:54:36 AM

All eyes were on the ZutaCore® booth at the 2024 Supercomputing Conference ( SC24.) In the weeks leading up to this show, NVIDIA’s Jensen Huang was seen autographing a ZutaCore GB200 cold plate (see video here). While one would think things could not get any better than that for two-phase, direct-to-chip liquid cooling, SC24 took this technology to a whole new level. For the first time ever, eco-friendly and waterless AI factories were finally becoming a reality.

KEY HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE SHOW

  • Live Exclusive Video Interview with My Truong, CTO: HPCWire took an inside look at ZutaCore's waterless AI factory architecture.  Watch the interview.
  • My Truong took the stage during the Exhibitor Forum: Took a deep dive into a case study for two-phase direct-to-chip monolithic cold plates to waterless liquid cool NVIDIA GB200 super chips.
  • Waterless AI Factory Architecture: ZutaCore and Munters have integrated their two platforms to provide a two-phase, waterless liquid cooling solution to sustainably cool AI factories faced with massive power densities driven by AI accelerators.  Learn more.
  • Advanced, waterless cold plates for AMD Instinct™ MI300X: Designed for managing next-generation AI workloads, essential for AI factories.
  • An under-the-hood NVIDIA H200 GPU demo: Showing how HyperCool® pool boiling works in real-time.
  • Live demo of the first Dell XE9680 AI server: Waterless liquid cooled by ZutaCore HyperCool.
  • ZutaCore cold plates for the NVIDIA GB200 super chip: Capable of waterless liquid cooling 2,800 watts and beyond.
  • A Compal SD221-8-A-L server retrofitted with HyperCool: Setting a new benchmark for sustainable, high-performance data center solutions to address the evolving needs of HPC and AI applications.

And that is not all!

Customers – new, old, and potential – streamed into the ZutaCore booth every day of the show, all day. What was on top their minds?

  • Water leakage: With AI servers expected to cost upwards of $200K-$300K each, no wants the risk of water near their equipment.
  • Sustainability: It’s not just the giants of the tech world setting sustainability goals. It’s the entire supply chain and the companies that offer the most sustainable solutions are the ones that are getting the business. When it comes to sustainability, ZutaCore sets itself apart from every other liquid cooling technology with no water, no fans, heat transfer capabilities and more!
  • Scalability: Unlike other liquid cooling technologies, two-phase, direct-to-chip technology was specifically designed to scale in the future as higher-powered GPUs came to market. As the liquid inside the cold plate boils, the liquid in the cold plate never passes the boiling temp even if the heat increases by 3X (aka hotter GPUs and CPUs). It does not matter how hot the chips get because the water will always stay at the same temperature.

It was a great week and we are already looking forward to next year! If you are interested in learning moreexplore our recent applications in the field or watch our technology in action.

And remember….Water is for People, not Servers!
