ZutaCore Announces the Industry’s First Two-Phase Sidecar Solution at the OCP APAC Summit; Enables 240kW Cooling Power with No Facility Water

New Sidecar Solution Enables Scalable, Energy Efficient Liquid Cooling for Hyperscalers that Need to Deliver AI Compute Power within Existing Data Center Infrastructures

August 5, 2025, San Jose, CAZutaCore®, a leader in waterless direct liquid cooling, today announced the industry’s first two-phase sidecar solution that allows hyperscalers to deploy the highest-performance AI GPUs using a hybrid approach that combines liquid cooling with existing air-cooled setups, without needing facility water loops. Designed to fit within standard data center infrastructures, the new sidecar has been built to handle the heat from high-power GPUs with high-density racks, enabling cooling of up to 240kW using hot swappable components that ensure the highest level of reliability and continuous operation.

The ZutaCore sidecar will be officially announced at the 2025 OCP APAC Summit during a presentation by Shahar Belkin, Chief Evangelist, on Wednesday, August 6th, titled “Enabling Scalable, Energy-Efficient Cooling with Two-Phase Sidecar Solutions.” ZutaCore has been an active participant in the OCP sidecar committee, helping to write the standards that include both single-phase and two-phase designs.

“Many of the world’s largest hyperscale data centers rely solely on-air cooling, which makes it extremely difficult to support the thermal demands of next-generation AI GPUs,” said My Truong, CTO of ZutaCore. “Our sidecar solution addresses this challenge directly, cooling up to two 120kW racks or four 60kW racks using a closed-loop, facility water-free two-phase system. Integrating alongside existing infrastructure extends the life and value of current data center investments while enabling a faster, more efficient transition to AI workloads at scale.”

“Demand for AI infrastructure continues to accelerate, prompting hyperscalers to seek cooling solutions capable of integrating seamlessly into legacy air-cooled data centers,” said Alex Cordovil, Research Director at Dell’Oro Group. “Liquid-to-air technologies offer significant advantages for existing facilities aiming to deploy AI workloads with minimal disruption and incremental investment. Dell’Oro forecasts that demand for direct liquid cooling solutions will more than double between 2025 and 2029, highlighting the critical role hybrid designs will play in driving wider industry adoption.”

Uses 80 Percent Less Pumping Power

A significant advantage of the ZutaCore sidecar is that it requires 80 percent less pumping power than single-phase solutions due to the low liquid flow required by two-phase solutions. Single-phase requires 1.5 liters of liquid per minute for every kW, while ZutaCore’s two-phase cooling solution operates efficiently at 0.3 liters per minute for every kW.

Other key features of the ZutaCore two-phase sidecar include the following:

  • Uses a light aluminum microchannel condenser instead of a heavy copper fin and tube radiator. This enables a smaller condenser that provides 20-40% higher heat exchange efficiency.
  • Plug and play installation for easy installation and maintenance.
  • N+1 and hot swap for pumps and fans, providing high reliability and continuous operation.
  • Leverages a two-phase loop where liquid absorbs heat, is vaporized, condensed, and recirculated.
  • Smart controls ensure auto-regulated flow, temp, and pressure, as well as remote monitoring and DCIM integration.
